Educational Field Trip
On February 24, 2009, the students, teachers and parents went to Subic, Zambales for the Educational Trip. Places covered were Nayong Pilipino, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and Zoobic Safari.
In Nayong Pilipino, we saw replica of the different historical sites in Luzon and Mindanao like the house where the hero Emilio Aguinaldo tore the "cedulas" in Kawit, Cavite, the house where Dr. Jose Rizal was born, etc. It also displayed the houses of different ethnic groups, the tree house, the nipa house, and the houses of the Muslims in Mindanao and Ifugao. We saw a big-sized upo vegetable, pineapples and different plants and trees. There were different musical instruments used by the Mangyans and the natives of Ifugao.
In SBMA tour, we had seen the different hotels where the American soldiers stayed when they were still there. The tour guide brought us to the place where the yachts owned by rich people, the one used by Prince Bolkia and the one which is reserved only for the President and family are parked.
In Zoobic Safari, we were caged in a jeep and we saw how the tigers were fed live chicken by our guide. In Savanah, we saw animals uncaged freely roam around. In Crocoloco, we watched the 300 crocodiles in their nap. Others got excited when we brought live chicken to feed them. Also, we saw the aetas dance depicting the behavior of monkeys and the dragonfly. They are great dancers and they entertained us much.
We enjoyed the trip very much which reinforced the researches made by the students on "Wild Animals," the theme chosen for the Interdisciplinary Thematic Unit for this school year. Our Educational Tour was very enriching!
